It's the right sort of diameter for an early denarius - could be a badly corroded silver one. How thick is it?

Thx for your comments guys. It is quite thin Timf, though not thin enough to bend easily. Probably the thickness of your thumbnail. It doesnt appear to be corroded it feels very stable indeed. cleaned up very easlily . You can't be seeing it the way I see it, or you wouldn't suggest a Denarius. It's easier to see if you look at the smaller picture in the gallery. I see a king, something like a HenryIV head (page boy haircut) I've trawled through all the images of hammered coins i could find, but could't find one with a similar profile to what i think i can see, which is face on but slightly turned to his left. Ive been looking it for so long now that it jumps right out at me. But it could also be my imagination lol..
I guess your'e right Maddog. I'll never know what it is, but that doesnt bother me too much. I' m absoloutely sure it IS a hammered. My first! which makes that 4 months before i found one. ( I started MD'ing in Feb) which isn't bad considering i live in London, nowhere near any fields and the only place i get to go is local park woodland. I thought i would never find one till i got to go somewhere more rural
I realise the coin is worthless even very poor. This being the case, Im willing to post it to anyone who care to take a closer look,And they can post it on to whoever else wants to see it or back to me.
Once again thank for your comments they're always 'food for thought' and much appreciated.
Good hunting!
