this item was found in an area where several roman coins/artefacts have come to light. first thought was a heavily silvered brooch but later cleaning suggests maybe a buckle as the pin at the top is immovable.

Brooch for sure Dave - having seen it in the flesh - silver coating is in very fine condition in places ... lug on top is decorative & not functional, not seen any like it - well saved
